Yep, you read that right: Peanut Butter & Jelly sliders, as in mini burgers. I found them listed on the Happy Hour menu at my first visit to Public School 310 in Culver City with friends Sky and Patrick. I was a little reluctant to order them, but being on the Happy Hour menu meant that they were reasonably priced at $6 for a trio. So I figured why not give them a try. Each little slider had a slice of smoked bacon atop the burger with a generous slather of crunchy peanut butter and blackberry habanero jam. The brioche bun was a perfect choice to hold everything together.
The sliders arrived after the white bean hummus, the parmesan truffle fries and the deviled eggs, so I was already feeling full. BUT they were so good I ate two and offered the third to Patrick. I know it seems a bit strange to pair peanut butter and jelly with something as savory as a burger and bacon slice, but it really worked. Perhaps it was the jam that tied it all together, I’m not sure. All I know is these PB & J Sliders at Public School are bring declared my best bite of the week!
