You may know that breakfast and/or brunch is my favorite meal to enjoy out. And I’m lucky enough to be part of a fun group of girls who also enjoy breakfast out, so much we call ourselves the Pancake Club. Although to be fair, we don’t always order pancakes. One of the best parts of the group is perusing our various restaurant options (and in LA, trust me there are plenty) and then everyone cashing in about where the next “meeting” should be. Our choices have been located all over town, from the Valley to the South Bay and everywhere in between.
Our October club meeting was held at The Eveleigh in West Hollywood, just outside Sunset Plaza. I’ve been wanting to try this place for months, reading about the beautiful patio and barn-like setting, with farm to table dishes. Then I read in Tasting Table about Chef Jordan Toft’s Avocado Toast. And I had to have it. I ordered the Big Breakfast: eggs, bacon, sausage, potato hash AND Avocado Toast. This way I got to share bites with a friend who ordered the fabulous Hot Cakes. The Avocado Toast was perfectly simple, a delicious little mound of mashed avocado on ciabatta bread, with a sprinkle of espelette pepper (paprika-like). A lovely flavor combination with lots of texture. And also my best bite of the week!
