This past week I ate a lot of chocolate! We debuted our newest Chocolate Tour on the Westside, and trust me when I say I ate A LOT of fabulous chocolate. Of course it was all in the name of research. Chocolate cookies, chocolate truffles, chocolate cake, chocolate candy, chocolate beverages. You get the picture. So by the time Sunday rolled around, I was ready for some savory. My friend Becky treated me to a belated birthday brunch at The Strand House in Manhattan Beach. It was my first visit, and both the ocean view and the food were delightful.
There were so many interesting egg dishes on the menu, and I was torn between the vegetarian quiche and the chicken sausage, goat cheese & asparagus frittata. But when a server walked by with a plate of corned beef hash topped with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce, I changed my mind. The hash consisted of pieces of potato mixed in with slightly sweet bits of corned beef, atop toasted bread, and topped with the eggs and sauce. Oh so good. My meal started with a fabulous brunch beverage, Sunrise over Manhattan Beach, and ended with a fabulous French-press full of coffee. I am happy to declare my brunch at The Strand House in Manhattan Beach my best bite of the week!
