I was happy to try a new Culver City restaurant to celebrate my friend MEM’s birthday. Located in the Helms Bakery plaza, Bucato has been getting write-ups not only for its outstanding menu (which changes daily) but also for the fact that the restaurant is a cellphone-free zone. Which meant that while I didn’t get to photograph my meal, I also got a break from trying to get just the right photo. Luckily, you can find just about anything on the internet and thanks to YELP I found this lovely picture of Bucato’s Rosemary Focaccia.
This little round loaf was the perfect size for two, and was heavenly. The inner part of the loaf was soft and just melted in my mouth like a big fluffy bread cloud. The crust was golden with a lovely sprinkling of rosemary for taste and scent! Being that the menu is crafted in small-plate format, in addition to the bread we enjoyed vegetables, fruit, cheese, pasta, polenta and dessert. I have to give special shout-outs to the Persimmon Burrata plate and the Fried Polenta topped with an egg. But it was truly the first dish of the evening, that Rosemary Focaccia, that I’m declaring my best bite of the week!
