This past week found us on the Oregon Coast, visiting some of our biggest fans (Trish’s parents). Bandon is a town of just over 3,000 with approximately 33 dining establishments. Over the 17 years that I’ve been visiting, I’ve tried a good number of those restaurants. One of my favorites is Alloro Wine Bar and Restaurant, serving Italian coastal cuisine. While the menu largely offers fresh seafood options, there are handmade pastas, meat entrees, antipasti, and creative salads. I chose the Asparagus-Beet, made with golden beets, radish, beautiful green asparagus, bits of hard-boiled egg and a few pieces of duck breast. The white miso dressing and dash of black pepper were the perfect finish.
Not only does this restaurant have a wonderful atmosphere, but a carefully selected wine list and a menu that changes often but never disappoints. If you find yourself traveling the Oregon Coast this summer, do yourself a favor and make a reservation at Alloro Wine Bar and Restaurant. Their hours vary by season, and you’ll have to fight the golfers who flock to Bandon Dunes for a table. Thanks to their colorful and tasty Golden Beet Salad, I had my best bite of the week!
