Matt and I both like the movie Serendipity starring Kate Beckinsale and John Cusack. Neither of us have been to restaurant in New York, which is well known for their Frozen Hot Chocolate. Tonight we realized, who needs New York? We had ChocoVivo’s version of Serendipity, just a few miles from home. Patricia Tsai, the owner of ChocoVivo, has dived right into bringing her chocolate community together by holding special evening events. I recently missed their Mini Donut and Chocolate Dipping Night, so I was determined to make it to their Frozen Hot Chocolate Night, taking place September 12-15.
Patricia and company took the classic Frozen Hot Chocolate and put their own special spin on it. Four different drinking chocolates were mixed by hand and poured over scoops of organic Straus Creamery Vanilla Bean ice cream. The four chocolate flavors we enjoyed were: Dark Chocolate 75% Cacao, Shangri-La with a blend of black sesame + gogi berries, a spicy Mayan blend with cinnamon, and Coffee + Vanilla. We sipped and savored and enjoyed each of them. Matt and I both chose the Shangri-La as our favorite of the evening. The black sesame had an unexpected toasty sweetness that really stood out. The others were all special in their own right. It was such a fun date night. Look for ChocoVivo’s upcoming movie night and return of Donut Night!
