Marilyn Monroe (born Norma Jeane Baker) would have been 86 years old on June 1. August 5 marks the 50th anniversary of her passing. There are many ways to remember, honor and celebrate the Hollywood legend. From now through June 7, there is a Marilyn Monroe film festival taking place at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood with a different Marilyn movie highlighted each evening. Was anybody there Friday night to see the Marilyn Monroe look-alike contest?
If you feel like a drive out to Palm Springs, you can stand under the 26-foot-tall “Marilyn Forever” sculpture that just arrived from Chicago in May. Catch some shade from the desert heat under Marilyn’s famous billowing skirt from her movie “The Seven Year Itch.” A little closer to home is the Hollywood Museum with an exclusive showing of Marilyn’s movie dresses and photographs from George Barris. I personally will be attending several of the events planned by the wonderful Immortal Marilyn fan club in early August and I invite you to join us!
