Sometimes the best eateries in Los Angeles are hidden away and hard to find. Such is the case with Vivoli Café. Tucked away in a little strip mall on Sunset Boulevard across from The Laugh Factory, this small but mighty Italian Café totally holds its own with some bigger and more well-known spots in town. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner Vivoli Café has been offering dine-in, take-out, delivery and catering for 11 years. I first heard of them through the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce when they were starting a new pastry program. That pastry case by the way is going to offer gelato for the summer months!

Recently I paid them a visit and enjoyed a wonderful lunch with new friend Natalie who I also met through the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. We started with a piece of Vivoli’s homemade focaccia bread and olive pesto. We then feasted on bruschetta pomodoro with flavorful tomatoes, fresh vegetable soup, and a lovely salad with roasted pine nuts, shaved Parmesan & a balsamic vinegar dressing. We had gnudi, a dish similar to gnocchi, but not made with potatoes. These gnudi were little spinach and ricotta dumplings in a butter and sage sauce with parmesan cheese. I so wanted to try the risotto or one of the chicken dishes but I just didn’t have enough space in my stomach. I did of course make room for a mini cannoli and a hot cup of cappuccino. This was the most wonderful Italian feast from start to finish and I am declaring it my best bite of the week!
