FREE is a word we all love to hear, especially when it comes to entertainment. Get yourself down to the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in downtown Los Angeles for their 20th Annual Art & Motion Picture Costume Design Exhibition. You’ll find costumes from 20 movies from 2011 on display through April 28. Interestingly, five of the 20 designers being featured are FIDM graduates! Costumes from each of the 2012 Academy Award Nominees for Best Costume are on display too.
My favorite outfits were from The Help and Water for Elephants. And even though I did not see The Zookeeper and A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas, the costumes were intriguing enough to make me want to rent the videos. As if a free exhibit isn’t enough to entice you downtown, you may be interested in the FIDM Scholarship Store, where fashionistas on a budget can find everything from jewelry and purses to wedding gowns and fabric by the yard. Definitely a win-win in my book!
