Dining in LA~My Best Bite of the Week: Angel Wings
You read that right: I said Angel Wings, not Buffalo Wings. Where did I find these interesting appetizers? At a little Thai restaurant in Beverly Hills with an equally interesting name @Bangkok Thai Restaurant. Yes the @ sign is included in the name. This restaurant is located on La Cienega just south of Wilshire and I’ve driven past it a lot and never given much thought to the little string of restaurants it sits among. Recently my friend Stuart accompanied me to the PaleyFest at the Saban Theater, and he suggested we park once for both dinner and the show. So we chose this little gem of a restaurant.
Stuart suggested the angel wings, from his experience at another Thai restaurant. I wasn’t too keen at first because I do not care for shrimp and this is the description: deep fried chicken wings stuffed with shrimp, chicken and silver noodles. But I decided to be brave and take his recommendation. Wow! I wanted to eat all 4 pieces but did the considerate thing and only ate my share. The combination of the stuffing inside the crispy golden chicken was delicious. I’m sure the shrimp was in there but the taste was not overwhelming. The angel wings were especially nice dipped in the sweet and sour sauce with fresh cucumber bits. I am happy to declare these Thai Angel Wings my best bite of the week!
