Dining in LA~My Best Bite of the Week: BAO Dim Sum House
One of the best things about leading food tours in Los Angeles is meeting other foodies who love to share their culinary discoveries. We had some guests on a Chocolate Tour who told us they found the best dim sum in Los Angeles at a little place called Bao near the original Farmer’s Market. We have been hooked ever since. Dim Sum means “to touch the heart” which is the Chinese phrase for the type of meal that includes small portions served in steamer baskets or plates.
The Sizzling Rice Soup is really what got us coming back for more. And the dumplings and potstickers are must-haves. But since then we’ve added Crispy Scallion Pancakes to every meal and loved them. It comes four pieces to an order, with a soft yet crispy texture and lots of pretty green scallion on top. I’m not too good with chopsticks and yet I seem to be able to eat these without too much trouble. I am declaring these little scallion pieces my best bite of the week. So if you’re looking for good dim sum here in LA, and don’t want to drive out to the San Gabriel Valley, look to Bao Dim Sum House on Beverly Boulevard. It will touch your heart!
