Dining in LA-My Best Bite of the Week: Baked Kale Chips
Happy New Year! When the calendar page changes to a new year, almost everyone thinks about making a resolution or two. Being in the food industry, I dine out more than most. Being that I have a sweet tooth, my dining adventures almost always include dessert. I do not plan to give up chocolate or coffee, but I am going to try to cut back on bread and potatoes, and increase the amount of veggies and fruit that I enjoy. Oh and water, must improve my water consumption. Anyway, moving on.
Matt and I enjoyed a mid-day lunch break at a great spot that I’ve been wanting to try for ages, Post & Beam. Located in a charming spot behind the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza, we asked for patio seating to take in the warmth of an early January day and enjoy the view of their garden! Matt ordered chicken curry soup and an asparagus salad, while I opted for an egg salad sandwich and a side of baked kale chips. Crunchy with just the right amount of salt, those kale chips just melted in my mouth. While the kale was not grown in their garden (they were growing mostly herbs and tomatoes) it was delicious and I was proud of my healthier choice. So for my first best bite of 2014, I am choosing Post & Beam’s baked kale chips!
