Dining in LA-My Best Bite of the Week: Pastry in Culver City
My best bite of the week came from a casino, the Grand Casino Bakery & Cafe to be exact. This cozy little eatery is situated on Culver City’s Main Street, which happens to be the smallest Main Street in the USA. This quaint café specializes in Argentinian food, so I’m not exactly sure how the name came about. But I can say that whether you are in the mood for sweet or savory foods, Grand Casino has you covered. If you are a fan of the South American flavor sensation dulce de leche, you’ll definitely want to pay a visit to Grand Casino in Culver City.
The day I stopped by, I was in the mood for sweets. There were so many delectable items in the pastry case, it was hard to choose. After asking about several items, I ordered a Guava Factura (translates to pastry in Spanish), which was a little square bit of flaky pastry dough, caramelized on top with a sweet dollop of guava jam in the center. Warmed up just a bit, that guava became soft and melty and lovely. Priced at 95 cents I will be heading back to Culver City for more very soon. For these reasons, I am declaring my pastry at Grand Casino in Culver City as my best bite of the week!
