Dining in LA-My Best Bite of the Week: Pie at Cook’s County

In my previous blog, I talked about our special evening at Los Angeles Magazine’s Best New Restaurant Celebration at Helm’s Bakery in Culver City.  We were treated to a dozen delicious bites from restaurants considered to be LA’s newest and best!  There were a lot of seafood plates, and Matt gladly enjoyed my portions as well as his.  But don’t worry I ate plenty!  Some of the best dishes I had were the Haricot Verts (French for green beans) with bits of crispy pig ears from Ray’s & Stark Bar (located at LACMA) and of course the light and fluffy Rosemary Focaccia from Bucato in Culver City.   There was also a surprisingly good, spicy pork spread from Chi Spacca (adjacent to Mozza2go on Melrose Avenue) served on warm bread.

But alas I am a dessert girl, and my very best bite came from Cook’s County.  It was a mint-chip ice cream pie with a chocolate cookie crust and the most amazing mint-chocolatey ice cream.  Topped with just enough whipped cream and a few crunchy pieces, it was like a bite of a minty cloud.  I actually went right back to the table and asked for a second slice, and in the picture it looks a little melty because I was having camera troubles.  Cook’s County on Beverly Boulevard has been on my radar since they opened in 2011.  Their brunch menu looks enticing, and they also offer a Fried Chicken Night every Monday.  Now I have two good reasons to visit.  Oh and for more of that pie.  That amazing Mint Chip Ice Cream Pie that I’m declaring my best bite of the week!
