Dining in LA-My Best Bite of the Week: Roasted Corn on the Cob
Every Halloween season we scope out the best pumpkin patches in Los Angeles for our annual visit. We choose a different Southern California pumpkin patch each year. In 2012 it was Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch in West Hollywood. Great entertainment and people-watching, but a little pricey on the pumpkins. This year I wanted to find a pumpkin patch that also had animals on property, like a petting zoo or pony rides. So after reading a few reviews, we headed out to Tapia Brothers Halloween Pumpkin Patch in Encino.
Located just off the 101 Freeway on Hayvenhurst Avenue, the parking was easy and free. There were so many pumpkins to choose from in a variety of sizes and prices, we took our time picking the perfect pumpkin. We perused the fresh produce selection (tomatoes, strawberries, a variety of greens), visited the animals, took a few pictures and then went in for the highlight: the roasted corn. We received nice size ears of sweet corn with the husks pulled back, and a table of condiments to choose from: salt, paprika, butter, parmesan and more. The corn was so delicious on its own it didn’t need much else, but the paprika and parmesan added a nice bit of flavor. So, I am declaring my roasted corn at Tapia Brothers Pumpkin Patch as my best bite of the week!
