Private Tours during the time of Covid-19
Private tours have always been a smart way to explore Los Angeles, but especially now during the time of Covid when you only want to be near those friends and/or family whose health history you are comfortable with. I recently hosted a private tour, my first since March 13. It was a family of six who just needed a summer break, with four teens that really wanted to see Los Angeles. We all wore face masks. I provided hand sanitizer, and they also brought their supply of sanitizer. We kept windows down for air circulation, and best of all my Toyota Sienna has a voice activation feature so the guests in the back row could hear me easily.
Hiring a private tour guide like me gives you access to what you are most interested in seeing, and not just a cookie-cutter tour of the highlights and basic landmarks. Then there’s the fact that the guide does all the planning and driving so you don’t have to deal with the heavy LA traffic and navigating the busy streets and freeways. Here at TOURific Escapes, I serve as the sole tour guide and driver. I am a graduate of the International Tour Management Institute, and have experience in leading many different types of tours. My 2015 Toyota Sienna seats 7 guests comfortablyand has a strong air-conditioning system and windows that roll down forphotography purposes and fresh air.
TOURific Escapes launched in 2010 and since then I have been enjoying adventures in every corner of the city. I have a good sense of what visitors want to see, but I will always ask for input from my guests in advance. Every tour is customized to exactly what your family wants to see. Private tour packages are offered in 4, 6 or 8 hour increments and pricing is one flat rate to include ALL guests in your party.
Another benefit to booking a private, customized tour is that you can tell me how much walking you want to do versus driving. And if you have people in your party who enjoy posting their vacation pictures on social media, I know many places to capture LA’s varied street art, murals and architectural gems which will make your friends at home jealous. Meals are not included in the price of private tours, but I will suggest popular and/or historic lunch places. During Covid, there are several places where we can enjoy outdoor dining. The Original Farmer’s Market is a local landmark and foodie favorite, as is Grand Central Market in Downtown LA. But I’ve also had guests want the experience of waiting in line at Pink’s Hot Dogs or want to enjoy fresh seafood on the Santa Monica Pier.
Your private tour includes pick up and drop off at your hotel or another location of your choosing, as long as it is centrally located in Los Angeles. Chilled bottled water is always provided onboard. And any parking fees incurred during the tour are covered in the pricing. If your family is planning a vacation to Los Angeles, or even if you live locally and are taking a staycation, consider a private tour guide to get more bang for your buck! And keep you safe during the time of Covid.
