Tea in Venice
Jin Patisserie is one of those cozy little places that helps you forget about the hustle and bustle of LA traffic, your busy schedule and looming to-do list. I purposely planned a research trip to Santa Monica and Venice so that I could have lunch at this tranquil garden tea spot behind a bright orange door on Abbot Kinney. I visit JP several times a month to pick up their mint-chocolate French macarons for our Chocolate Indulgence tour, but it had been some time since I’d sat down to enjoy the menu.
I ordered afternoon tea which came with my favorite egg salad sandwiches, a savory little tart, two berry scones with strawberry jam & cream and a lovely assortment of sweet pastries. Plus a small pot of tea. I ate EVERY.SINGLE.BITE. Yes I did. I also got a bonus visit with Annabelle, the sweet pastry chef who makes both the chocolates and the macarons. It was a warm day, I was in the shade, I enjoyed every morsel, and it wasn’t until the last scone was gone that I wished I had saved it for later. Oh well, I know where to get more.
