In the past year I breathed the same air as George Clooney, Dick Van Dyke and Ernest Borgnine. Where, you may wonder? At special movie screenings offered through the American Cinematheque. I just renewed my membership, which offers privileges at two landmark theaters in town. The Aero Theater on Montana Avenue in Santa Monica was the childhood cinema of Robert Redford and The Egyptian in Hollywood will be celebrating 90 years of movie magic in October of this year.
My first year membership brought me to Oscar-nominated movie nights as well as free foreign film screenings (love the Italian movies!). In the month of October, there was an Alfred Hitchcock movie marathon. There are always a nice assortment of movie options, way more than I have time to see. I wonder who and what I’ll get to enjoy this year?
